Power Management

Power management is an energy-saving feature that powers down portions of
the adapter when they're inactive.

When power management is ENABLED, the adapter consumes less power. This
effect is achieved by temporarily putting portions of the adapter "to
sleep" during periods of no activity.

You will not lose your network connection when power management is
enabled. The inactive components "wake up" upon receiving packets sent
specifically to the adapter's address, broadcast to the entire network,
or received while the adapter is in promiscuous mode.

When power management is enabled, and a driver is loaded, the adapter's
LNK light will be off or will blink intermittently.

When power management is DISABLED, the adapter consumes power at its
normal rate.

Normal idle power consumption is 300 milliwatts. Total power consumption
in sleep mode can be as low as 175 milliwatts.

To use the power management feature, you must be using the adapter's TPE
connector.


To enable power management
--------------------------

1. From SoftSet2's main menu, choose Change adapter configuration.

2. Choose Advanced options menu.

3. From the Advanced options menu, choose Power Management.

4. Set Power Management to Enable

5. Exit SoftSet2.
